Course Details:

A great new workshop for scentwork fans - learn to use your dog's scenting skills in a new context.

A 2 day, weekend workshop - 5th & 6th August 2023 with Catja Pedersen

Venue: Porters Farm, Hollow Rd, Kelvedon, Colchester, Essex CO5 9DD.  https://w3w.co/perfumed.lands.repaying

We all know the situation. You’re talking to someone who’s looking for something they lost outside, and they’re devastated.  If only there was something we could do to help them find their missing item. Good news,- there is!

Join us for a fun weekend of search exercises with your dog.  We will work on finding objects with human scent and will focus on the typical lost items like phones, glasses and jewellery.

In this 2 day workshop, we will cover

  • how to teach your dog the marking of the object and how to get the search systematic.

  • We will also talk about how to ask the right questions to the owner of the object, so that we optimize the chance of finding them.

  • This is suitable for every dog.

In Denmark that’s a whole countrywide group of people who does this with their dogs. When someone loses hearing-aids, hunting equipment or anything else, they can call and get someone from the group to come and search for them. It’s all free, everyone does it to help others and have a good time with their dogs,- only transportation costs are being paid. Who knows,- maybe there’s potential for a UK group as well after this weekend!

Who is this for?:

  • Anyone who has a interest in having some fun with their dog - No previous experience is necessary

  • All dogs

Dogs:

We are committed to making sure that the dogs attending the workshops are able to work in a safe

and comfortable environment.  To aid this there will be plenty of space for working inside and pods can

be erected to provide a visual barrier if requested.  The outside venue has a huge field where space is

plentiful.
